The problem

The company needed a faster, more scalable way to manage growing volumes of scientific literature, biomarker data, genomic information and experimental findings. Scientists spent significant time reviewing publications, extracting findings, normalizing data and validating it before it could be used, a process that was fragmented, inconsistent and hard to scale.

The OptraHEALTH approach

OptraHEALTH deployed a consulting-led agentic AI and biomedical knowledge management solution that combines automated extraction, normalization, validation and knowledge organization across literature, biomedical databases and internal research sources. It runs on OptraHEALTH's biomedical knowledge infrastructure: 65+ million ontology concepts and 2+ million curated biomedical Q&A pairs.

Literature review acceleration

Faster review of publications, biomarker studies and therapeutic evidence.

Data normalization

Fragmented data harmonized across sources, formats and workflows.

Validation and quality review

More consistent, traceable and reliable curated research data.

Centralized knowledge repository

A searchable scientific knowledge base that supports future evidence discovery and reuse.

Every output stays traceable to its source. Final interpretation, scientific conclusions and publication decisions remain with the client's researchers.

Results

Manual curation fell by 70%, and the team reached analysis-ready datasets three times faster. For every 10 hours of manual curation, about 7 were removed or redirected to higher-value work.

Disconnected spreadsheets and files gave way to a centralized knowledge framework, making curated data easier to search, validate, reuse and apply across Crohn's disease and IBD research, with support for HIPAA, SOC 2 and GDPR-aligned workflows.
